Day 01: Nairobi

Arrive at J.K.I.A airport Nairobi where you will be met by African Savannah Holidays
representative for introduction and safari briefing. Transfer to your hotel for an overnight
stay.

After breakfast depart the Hotel at 09.30hrs for a tour around Nairobi. Main focus on the
tour include, Karen area where we will visit the David Sheldrick Elephant orphanage, Giraffe Center and Karen Blixen Museum. Lunch will be on own arrangement in one of the many nice restaurants around Karen. Return to our Hotel late afternoon.

Early breakfast at the hotel, depart Nairobi at 7:00am heading north through the lush Kikuyu farmlands with coffee, wheat and horticulture farms among other plantations. Pass the Equator and the cool central highlands and descend to the wildlife rich northern savannah biome. The reserve is rich in wildlife with an abundance of rare northern endemic species such as the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx (also referred to as Samburu Special Five). Arrive Samburu National Reserve in time for lunch and afternoon game drive.

Spend the full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game watching drives. During the hot day you can choose to visit the local communities living adjacent to this game reserve or relax by the swimming pool.

The drive retrieves back to the central Kenya highlands and scenic landscapes including Mt Kenya.  We arrive for hot lunch at Sweet Waters Serena Camp. Ol Pejeta is East Africa’s Largest Black Rhino Sanctuary and the only place in Kenya to see chimpanzees. It is also home to some of the big predators in Kenya. Afternoon game drive and visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

After breakfast, drive in a south west direction across the equator with a brief stop at the Thompson falls, then down the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. Check in followed by lunch and afternoon game drive at 1600hrs.

Lake Nakuru is a UNESCO World Heritage Site gazetted as Wetland. It is an alkaline lake that hosts a variety of water and terrestrial bird species. It doubles as a natural game park and a Rhino sanctuary for both Black and White Rhinos. The ecosystem also provides for different species of mammals including buffaloes, Zebras, Rothschild Giraffe, a variety of antelopes and the big cats. It is also a haven for water and terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.

Early breakfast and depart at 7:30am heading for the Masai Mara. We drive through Masai land with a stopover at the Masai town of Narok for refueling and bathroom breaks. Continue towards the Masai Mara arriving in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive.

Masai Mara game reserve has an extra ordinary density of animals including the Big five and many other varieties of plains game. The Mara River cuts through the Mara Serengeti ecosystem giving life to the two game reserves finally pouring out into Lake Victoria. Impressive and most notable is the wildebeest, zebra and gazelle instinct led migration from the Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya.

Lunch in Nairobi on own arrangements and later transfer to the Airport for your evening homebound flight.
