A message from the General Manager
East Africa is looking forward to welcoming you to our majestic safari destinations after a whole year of tension and uncertainty brought by the COVID 19 Pandemic.
With all the changes in the world over this last year, we are adapting ways to make sure our clients feel safe and comfortable without compromising on the incredible safari experiences we offer.
We are well aware of the processes you will have gone through on to get to our beautiful country and you can be assured that you will always be greeted with that same African humility. We will keep a social distance but you will feel the warmth, our face masks might hide our smiles but you will see them on our eyes.
Our members of staff and those from all Safari Camps and Lodges you will visit during your stay have received new COVID-19 safety and protocol training. Guidelines from the Government through the ministry of tourism are being followed strictly to ensure your safety.
Arrival and departure requirements
Many countries have their individual requirements for arriving visitors. In Kenya you require a certificate showing that you are full vaccinated. Please do take the time to check with your airline for their precautionary measures too.
Before departure we request that clients check with destination countries and conform to their requirements. There are several Testing centers in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda and we will make arrangements for you to get tested in time before departure.
Transport and Game drives
You can be confident that once we collect you from the Airport, the vehicle you board for Hotel transfer and entire safari period will have been rigorously cleaned and we will have hand sanitizer and face masks ready for you as soon as you land.
We have set a limit to the number of guests sharing a vehicle for game drives to 4 guests to ensure social distancing. For organized groups, you will still be able to have up to six guests in one vehicle. Government guidelines require guests to wear masks during game drives. Vehicles and relevant equipment are thoroughly cleaned before and after drives. As an additional measure, guests will also be allocated the same drive guide and vehicle for the duration of their stay wherever possible.
Checking In & Out of Safari Camps/ Lodges/ Hotels
Upon registration, we encourage our clients to keenly listen and adhere to briefs by hotel staff for their own safety and comfort and that of other guests. We want you to feel as at home as possible, whilst still getting the outstanding services.
Cleanliness
Rooms – Now more than ever, the hotels and safari camps are carrying out the most meticulous cleaning measures in the rooms, restaurants, reception and general service areas. Although there are government’s set guidelines for the hospitality industry, we purpose to monitor and ascertain that our suppliers are compliant.
Hands – All vehicles have a hand sanitizer and tissues for our clients comfort. All hotels and camps now have a running tap and soap at the entry and sanitizing stations within the service areas.
Masks – For the safety of both our staff and clients, our staff will be wearing face masks at all times. The masks may hide the smiles but you will experience the hearty welcome in one way or another.
All guests are requested to respect the mandatory government guidelines which require guests to wear a face mask in all communal areas and while on a shared safari vehicle. Ask your driver guide for a mask whenever you need one.
Dining/ Restaurants
You can be assured that your dining experience will not be compromised. The restaurants are arranged factoring in social distancing and clients can only share a table with their own. Open air dining will be common than closed when and where possible.
Medical Support
Temperature Screening – There will be a non-contact thermo gun to check you temperatures when need be. Feel free to ask your driver guide for this.
Hotels will be carrying out temperature checks on arrival and a medical questionnaire might be requested. Our members of staff as well as those from hotels and camps will undergo daily temperature checks before they start work every day to make sure that everyone is in safe hands.
Nurses and Health care – In cases a client shows signs of any health concerns, there are medically trained nurses in almost of the safari camps. While on the road, the driver guide will either check in to the nearest health clinic or consult with the office for directions. Where emergency evacuation is necessary, we call AMREF the flying doctors who will take you to Nairobi for specialized medical attention as we await directives from your travel insurance.
Community/ Locals’ Village Tours
We encourage our clients to visit the local communities when and where possible, but we will ask them to wear masks throughout the tour, use hand sanitizer before and after and observe social distancing to keep both you and the community safe.
