Gishwati Mukura National Park, located near Lake Kivu in northwestern Rwanda, was established in 2015 to restore and expand the Gishwati and Mukura Forest Reserves. Covering 34 square kilometers plus a buffer zone, it lies on the ridge dividing the Congo and Nile catchment areas within the Albertine Rift.
