Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is situated in southwestern Uganda, bordering the Rift Valley. It is renowned for its mist-covered hills and ancient tropical rainforests, which have existed for over 25,000 years, and hosts nearly 400 plant species. Most notably, this “impenetrable forest” shelters approximately 460 mountain gorillas, representing about half of the global population, including several habituated groups available for tracking.
Accessibility: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park can be reached by air from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) or by road from Kampala Uganda, and Kigali Rwanda.

Conservation Efforts:
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park focuses on several key conservation efforts to protect its biodiversity, particularly the critically endangered mountain gorillas. These include anti-poaching measures, community engagement to reduce human-wildlife conflict, and eco-tourism that funds conservation. Research and monitoring of gorilla populations are ongoing, alongside habitat restoration initiatives. Strengthened law enforcement against poaching and illegal activities is critical, as well as educational programs to raise awareness about conservation. Collectively, these efforts have helped increase the mountain gorilla population and maintain the park’s rich ecosystem.
